Frequently asked questions

What time does the Sunset Harbor Cruise depart and how long does it last?+
Departure 17:30, return 20:00 — 2.5 hours timed to catch sunset over the Caribbean (around 18:30 year-round, since Curaçao sits at 12°N with very stable daylight). The route loops through Willemstad harbor, past the illuminated Handelskade, under the Queen Emma Bridge, and into the Spanish Water. Soft drinks, local beer, wine, signature cocktail, and light snacks served throughout.
Do you swim or snorkel on the Sunset Harbor Cruise?+
No — this is a scenic cruise, not a snorkel trip. You stay dry on a deck-seating boat with drinks and snacks, watching Willemstad's pastel waterfront from the water. If you want snorkel highlights, the Half Day or Full Coast Sea Safari covers those. The Sunset Cruise is the wind-down option after a beach day, or a stand-alone choice for couples and groups who want the city views without getting wet.
Is the Sunset Harbor Cruise good for couples, honeymoons, or anniversaries?+
It's the most-booked Seafari tour for couples. The combination of the Willemstad colour-strip from the water at golden hour, the Queen Emma Bridge swing, and the Spanish Water at dusk is hard to match elsewhere on the island. For special occasions, ask at booking — we set up reserved seating, a welcome cocktail, and can arrange a small private set-up for an extra fee. Private charters of the full vessel are also available for groups of 2–36.
What's the Sunset Harbor Cruise route — does it pass through Willemstad harbor?+
Yes. Departure from Caracasbaai, then a slow run up along the Pietermaai waterfront, through the Sint Anna Bay harbour entrance — passing under the Queen Emma Bridge as it swings open for traffic — into Willemstad's inner harbour for views of Handelskade and Otrobanda lit at sunset. The return loops via the Spanish Water for dusk colour over the mangroves before docking. Total around 25 km on the water.
Are children welcome on the Sunset Harbor Cruise?+
Yes, all ages. The cruise is calm seated time on a stable boat with snacks and soft drinks — easy with kids who'd be tired by sunset anyway. Family bookings are common. The 2.5-hour duration ends before young children's bedtimes, and we have non-alcoholic mocktail versions of the signature cocktail for kids and non-drinkers. Ages 4–12 pay a child price; under 4 are free.
Can I rent the Sunset Harbor Cruise as a private charter for a proposal or birthday?+
Yes — full Rupert 50 private charter for 2–36 guests, your route, your guest list, your timing. Common reasons: surprise proposals, birthday parties, anniversary dinners, small wedding receptions, or corporate groups. Pricing is fixed regardless of group size; we quote within 24 hours of inquiry. The crew is briefed on the occasion in advance, so the moment lands clean — no awkward intrusions.
What's included in the USD 79 Sunset Harbor Cruise ticket?+
Bottled water, soft drinks, local Curaçao beer (Montana Blond, Amstel Bright), wine, hard seltzers, the signature Seafari cocktail, light snacks (tropical fruit, cheese, crackers), comfortable seated deck space, and the multilingual crew. No upsells on board — the bar is open for the full 2.5 hours. The only thing not included is dinner; most guests dine at Pietermaai's restaurant strip after docking.
Will the boat be crowded, and how does seating work on the Sunset Harbor Cruise?+
The Rupert 50 is rated for 36 but operational capacity is 26 once Curaçao certification finalises in mid-2026 — meaning more space per guest than typical mass-tourism cruises. Seating is open-plan deck with shaded and unshaded sections; everyone has a clear sightline for sunset. No reserved seating on the public cruise; if you want guaranteed positioning, book a private charter.
What's the Sunset Harbor Cruise weather policy if sunset is overcast or rain is forecast?+
The cruise runs in any weather except dangerous conditions (heavy thunderstorm or wind above 25 knots). Light passing showers are normal in October-November and the boat has covered seating; we don't cancel for cloud cover. If we cancel because of safety, you get a 100% refund or free reschedule. Sunset visibility is roughly 70% across the year — even on overcast days the Willemstad skyline at golden hour is the headline view.
Where does the Sunset Harbor Cruise depart from, and is there parking?+
Caracasbaai marina — same as our other tours. Free parking, well-lit at dusk. Twenty minutes by car from central Willemstad, 25 from Mega Pier, 15 from Mambo Beach. Taxi from Pietermaai runs USD 20–25. Hotel pickup add-on (USD 15) covers Mambo, Jan Thiel, and Pietermaai zones. Arrive by 17:15 for the 17:30 departure.
