Curaçao boat tour FAQ — quick answers
What people most often ask before booking. For deeper Q&A see our full Tour FAQ and Travel Guide FAQ.
Is a Curaçao boat tour bumpy?
Most are. We aren't. Our Rupert 50 is a 5,500 kg deep-V planing-hull built in Sweden — at cruising speed (30–35 knots) it rides over the wave-tops instead of fighting through them. Lighter RIBs slam the swell and tire passengers within an hour; the Rupert stays level. That's the difference between arriving at Klein Curaçao relaxed and arriving exhausted.
How long is the boat ride to Klein Curaçao?
About 40–45 minutes each way from Marichi Pier (Punda) on the Rupert 50, comfortable at 30–35 knots cruising speed. Klein Curaçao sits roughly 20 nautical miles southeast of Curaçao's main island. Total day-trip time including snorkel + lunch + beach time is 8 hours. Round-trip by boat — no bus return required.
When is the best time to snorkel in Curaçao?
Year-round, but morning visibility (08:00–11:00) is consistently best — wind comes up after midday and chops the surface. Sea temperature stays 26–28°C all year. Top sites: Tugboat wreck (5 m, beginner-friendly), Playa Kalki, and Klein Curaçao reefs. Trade winds run 10–25 knots — that's why hull design matters.
RIB or catamaran for a Curaçao boat tour?
RIB if you value time at multiple sites — a heavy-built RIB like our Rupert 50 cruises at 30–35 knots, so a half-day covers 3–4 stops a catamaran needs a full day to reach. Catamarans suit relaxed all-day cruises with onboard space for 30–50 guests. The trade-off: speed + access vs. living-room-on-water comfort.
Where do Seafari Adventures tours depart from?
We depart from Marichi Pier in Punda, central Willemstad — about 10 minutes from the Mega Cruise Terminal in Otrobanda by taxi, or a 15-minute walk across the Queen Emma Bridge. Cruise-ship passengers can comfortably make our half-day morning tour and return to ship before all-aboard. Free hotel + cruise-port pickup available on request.
